Chloé Poizat's graphic universe is situated on the border between dream and nightmare, between the world of the living and that of ghostly beings, somewhere between the real and the illusory images that populate our collective imagination. In her work, references to cinema, the history of photography and literature are intertwined, notably through the techniques of collage and montage. From these visual associations, sometimes at the edge of surrealism, fictions seem to emerge, sometimes dark, sometimes absurd, but always tinged with humour.

At the heart of Gianpaolo Pagni's practice are the notions of erasure and appearance. The artist materializes them through the use of the imprint, whether it is left by individuals, collected and gleaned or materialized through the use of the stamp. The latter has become a working tool in its own right in his practice. In his drawings, as in his pictorial work, the principle of covering a printed medium, as well as the hazards of printing, question the impermanence of everything. "The trace left by a stamp is never the same and each stamp is a surprise" (Gianpaolo Pagni).

Chloé Poizat and Gianpaolo Pagni share the same studio and the same transdisciplinary approach to creation: both are at the crossroads of contemporary art, publishing and press illustration. This proximity enabled them to engage in a four-handed collaborative work between 2011 and 2015: Nos pièces montées, a series of drawings produced following the principle of the exquisite corpse, which saw its culmination in the publication Pièces montées, published by Cornélius in 2015.

At Lendroit éditions, their works interact with each other once again, no longer on a sheet of paper, but in the gallery. The exhibition combines drawings, sculptures and photographs of both artists in a jumbled fashion, reminiscent of an amateur cabinet. And if you want I'll laugh like a waterfall and like a fire) proposes to give an account of the singular approach of the two artists, while revealing obvious points of convergence. This dual approach is also revealed in the publication of five digital prints by each of the two artists, extending the confrontation and complementarity of their respective plastic work.
