This catalogue has been edited on the occasion of the Revues d'artistes, une selection exhibition, which took place from November 7th to December 19th, 2008, at LENDROIT Gallery in Rennes, at Cabinet du livre d'artiste in Rennes, as well as at Les Urbanistes in Fougères. This exhibition presented a selection of about sixty artist-made reviews since the 1960s. The diversity of the publications put on display -either collective or by the initiative of a single artist- allows us to glimpse the variety of possibilities that this particular form of edition offers. Although they do not point out the same philosophy, or even seem very distant from one another, these reviews are all in favour of a reconsideration of certain art criteria, and refuse the untouchable character of the work which literally becomes "to be travelled through". The contemporary collective publications have been presented at the LENDROIT Gallery.

The catalogue presents each review exhibited in a chronological and individual way. The texts presenting the reviews have been written by artists, critics and academics.
