Il s'agit du catalogue d'exposition collector publié à l'occasion de l'exposition « British Food », organisée en 1995 à la Galerie du Jour à Paris. En contraste avec la culture culinaire « instagrammable » qui prévaut aujourd'hui, ces images saturées, prises en gros plan et éclairées par un flash annulaire, représentant la cuisine britannique quotidienne, invitent le public à examiner de près ce qu'il mange. « British Food » marque le début de la fascination de Parr pour la nourriture comme moyen d’explorer les questions sociales et l’identité, et met en lumière les premières étapes qui ont défini à la fois le style unique de Parr et ce genre photographique.
This is the rare exhibition catalogue published to coincide with the 1995 exhibition, British Food, at Galerie du Jour in Paris. Contrasting with the instagramable food culture prevalent today, saturated, close-up, ring flashed images of everyday British cuisine invite the public to take a close look at what they eat. British Food is the beginning of Parr’s fascination with food as a way to explore social issues and identity, and showcases the early stages that defined both Parr’s unique style and this genre of photography.
