Jet Lag 48 - Tendre est la nuit
Yves Drillet
Yves Drillet est un photographe rennais formé à la Villa Arson de Nice puis au studio parisien Rouchon comme assistant de plateau. Il tire parti de ce double apprentissage de la photographie artistique et de mode dans une pratique centrée sur le portrait. En 2014 il est nommé « Emerging photographer » par le festival Plat(t)form au Fotomuseum de Winterthur. À propos de ses portraits, la curatrice Sofie Crabbé écrit : « Il saisit expressions et postures lesquelles convoquent un mélange touchant de dureté, innocence, vulnérabilité, mais plus que tout une aura silencieuse, intérieure. (...) Une histoire dont il appartient au regardeur de la découvrir et qui évoque à chaque fois un sentiment, une humeur particulière. »
Tendre est la nuit présente un style d’image avec lequel j’ai fais mes débuts dans la photographie. Style ashé sur le vif dit « snapshot » que j’utilisais comme enregistrement sentimental de mon entourage. Par la suite je me suis ouvert à une approche plus construite et posée, mais le « snapshot » reste pour moi une prise de notes afin d’amener de l’imprévu lorsque je photographie les portraits au cœur de mon travail. Ici, je vous propose une promenade sans but précis dans une intimité mélancolique et enjouée. Si l’on dépasse le contexte de ces images, on y découvre une complicité par un regard, un geste ou simplement par l’acceptation tacite de mon regard.

Jet Lag est une collection de livres dédiés au dessin, collage, photomontage et autres expérimentations graphiques. Chaque Jet Lag est une carte blanche à un artiste qui s’approprie les 24 pages disponibles. Chaque saison Jet Lag comprend 10 Jet Lag conçus par 10 artistes locaux, nationaux, internationaux. La charte graphique change à chaque saison. Elle est à chaque fois confiée à un(e) jeune graphiste.
Yves Drillet is a photographer from Rennes who studied at La Villa Arson in Nice and then at Rouchon -a Parisian studio- where he worked as a stage-hand assistant. He learnt a lot from training in both fashion and artistic photography focused on the portrait. In 2014 he was named “Emerging photographer” by the Plat(t)form festival at the Winterhur Fotomuseum. The curator Sophie Crabbé writes about his portraits: “he grabbed expressions and postures which convene a touching mixture of hardness, innocence, vulnerability, but most of all will be a silent, inner. A story which belongs to the viewer to discover and evoking each time a feeling, a particular mood.
Tendre est la nuit presents the kind of images I started photography with.I used this "snapshot" style as a sentimental recording of those close to me. At a later stage, I opened myself to more constructed and controlled approach, but snapshots remain a note-taking in order for me to bring the unexpected when I photograph the portraits that are at the hear of my work. Here, I offer an aimless walk in a melancholic and cheerful intimacy. If we look beyond the context of the images, we can see complicity through a glance, a gesture, or simply through the tacit acceptance of my case.
Jet Lag is a collection dedicated to drawing, collage, photo-montage and other graphic experiments. Each artist is given free rein for each Jet Lag - they have to take the 24 available pages and make them their own. Each Jet Lag season is made of 10 Jet Lag.
