4X3 - Art contemporain dans la ville  est un projet artistique porté par l’association Lendroit éditions qui propose trois panneaux grands formats installés sur le domaine public. Le public peut ainsi découvrir tout au long de l’année, 7 jours sur 7 et à ciel ouvert, le travail d’artistes contemporains. Le projet a été élu au budget participatif de la ville de Rennes.

Michel Le Belhomme, né en 1973, vit et travaille à Rennes en France.

Diplômé de l’École des Beaux-Arts de Rennes et de l’Université de Rennes 2, il est professeur, maître de conférences, commissaire d’exposition et critique en photographie.

Michel Le Belhomme pratique le “lent proto­cole sculp­tu­ral qui fait tableau” selon Chris­tian Gatti­noni, ‘‘dans le sillage des sculp­tures invo­lon­taires de Bras­saï et des ready made à l’échelle et au point de vue recti­fiés par Patrick Tosani. Du premier il a retenu l’uti­li­sa­tion des maté­riaux sans qualité, leur pouvoir de trans­for­ma­tion. Du second il travaille la singu­la­rité des objets et leur méta­mor­phose dans un jeu de proxi­mité, perturbé par la distance et la varia­tion d’échel­le’’.

Photographe de l’image précaire en glissement et en basculement il se joue du référent pour que l’image devienne photographie.

En 2015, il est lauréat du Prix Voies Off d’Arles et du Solas Photo­gra­phy Prize de Dublin. En 2016, il est nominé au Merck Preis Darm­städ­ter Tage der Foto­gra­fie, puis nominé au Renais­sance Photo­gra­phy Prize.

Il expose régulièrement en France et à l’étranger en galerie, institutions et festivals. Dernièrement : Gibellina Photoroad, Sicile, MUCEM de Marseille, Format Festi­val à Derby en Angle­terre, « Paysages fran­çais, une aven­ture photo­gra­hique » à la BNF à Paris,  Imagen, Mundo à Belo Hori­zonte ,Brésil, …

A participé à des foires : Paris Photo, Art Paris, Unseen. A été publié dans la presse (Libération, Télérama, Le Monde) et différents magazines (GUP, Source, Die Nacht, aint-Bad).  Depuis 2014, il est représenté par la Galerie Binome, Paris.

4X3 is an artistic project carried by the association Lendroit éditions which proposes three large format panels installed on the public domain. The public can thus discover the work of contemporary artists throughout the year, 7 days a week and in the open air. The project was elected to the participatory budget of the city of Rennes.

Artist Guillaume Pinard inaugurates the 4X3 project with six selected images visible for three months 7 days a week and 24/24 avenue Aristide Briand in Rennes.

Michel Le Belhomme was born in 1973 and works and lives in Rennes, France.

He graduated from the École des Beaux-Arts in Rennes and Rennes 2 University. He is a professor, lecturer, exhibition curator and photography critic.

Michel The Belhomme practices "the slow sculptural protocol which makes paintings" (Christian Gattinoni), in the wake of Brassaï's involuntary sculptures and of Patrick Tosani's ready mades, with their corrected scale and point of view. From Brassaï, he learned the use of cheap materials and their great power of transformation. From Tosani, he learned how to work on the singularity of objects and their metamorphoses in a play of proximity, disrupted by distance and the variation in scale.

Photographer of the precarious image in landslide and tilt-shift, he plays with the referent so that the image becomes a photograph.

In 2015, he was awarded the Prix Voies Off d'Arles and the Solas Photography Prize in Dublin. In 2016, he was nominated for the Merck Preis Darmstädter Tage der Fotografie, then nominated for the Renais¬ance Photography Prize.
